Restaurant Särimner at Birka

A Unique Viking Restaurant on the Shores of Lake Mälaren

Welcome to Viking restaurant Särimner on Lake Mälaren. We use locally produced ingredients as often as we can, and always Swedish homegrown when the possibility presents itself.

Our Särimner Food Philosophy

Tavern masterchef Jens Nykvist and restaurant manager Jennifer Löf use local products as often as they can, and always Swedish produce when possible – even the ale and mead – come from microbreweries located on neighboring islands. Our house beer, Särimner, is a fresh lager from Stallarholmens Bryggeri.

We have several different mead varieties on hand to sample. One of these is from Stallarholmens Bryggeri, also a local Mälaren producer.

Särimner Restaurant serves Viking-inspired food for the modern palate, served inside in a rustic interior or outdoors in the fresh air.

Our wonderful outdoor setting is at the lakeside, near the dock. From here one can take in the view over Björkfjärden and some truly spectacular sunsets.

A Popular Tradition: Wild Boar Grill Nights

We continue with our popular tradition of many years – the wild boar grill nights. Booking is available for July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 as well as August 5, 2023. At the grill, you can meet grill masters and hunters Peter and Claes and eat your fill of free-range wild boar hunted from Mälarens forests, grilled whole and served with tasty sides.

Price adult: SEK 435
Price 5-12 years: SEK 200

Wild boar grill evenings are only by booking, latest 16:00 on the same day. The event begins at 19:00 and the buffet is open from 19:30-21:00.

We also offer our regular evening menu on these evenings.

If we have places over we do allow drop-in guests and there is also the possibility for take-away (popular with our boating friends!)

On 8 and 15 July you can book a leisurely evening trip out to the island with the steam boat Ejdern from Södertälje. Book tickets here: ejdern.org
Travel quickly to Birka with Särimner Taxi. For booking call or text Jens 0702-26 65 34.

Troubadour at Wild Boar Grill Night
Since ancient times, myths have been passed on via oral tradition. For Ceasar (from Ceasar & the Argonauts), it is through pop, rock, and song that a selection of myths is performed during the wild boar feast.

Suitable for both young and old and is followed by sing-alongs of various pop songs from the 1950s to the present day.
